Biography: Satish Kumar is the Chief of Party of USAID funded bilateral ECO- III project. He is also a Scientist on leave from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where he worked for 11 years prior to his current assignment. He has been leading one of the largest bi-lateral energy efficiency programs between the Government of India and the US Government through the USAID-funded ECO-III project (www.eco3.org ). The ECO-III team is working on a range of national and sub-national initiatives in the field of energy code development and implementation, benchmarking energy use in commercial buildings and data centers, state-level municipal energy efficiency programs, establishment of three Regional Energy Efficiency Centers, Energy Conservation Action Plan development for Gujarat and Punjab, establishment of a policy advocacy organization, national capacity enhancement efforts in building energy simulation, M&V, and curriculum enhancement and developing a strategy for promoting energy efficiency in the Small and Medium Enterprises.

He has a PhD in Building Science from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor in Architecture from IIT Roorkee. He is a co-founder of Efficiency Valuation Organization, Alliance for an Energy-Efficient Economy (AEEE), and IBPSA-India and serves on the board of all three organizations. He is a guest faculty member at IIM Ahmedabad, CEPT, and IIT Roorkee. He is a LEED Accredited Professional, Certified Energy Manager and a Certified M&V Professional. His areas of interests include green building design and operation, energy code development and enforcement, building energy modeling, M&V, benchmarking, and performance contracting, and indoor health and productivity.
